Matanataki Pacific Fund 1 (MPF1) is a pioneering blended finance fund, targeting US$50 million, and dedicated to building climate resilience across Pacific Island nations. Headquartered in Fiji and anticipated to be managed through a Singapore GP/LP platform management structure, MPF1 will invest in a balanced portfolio of small and medium enterprises spanning waste management, regenerative agriculture, sustainable fisheries, and low impact tourism.

The fund’s investment strategy is guided by the health of coral reefs and places a strong emphasis on gender equity and local ownership. MPF1’s team, led by Jodi Smith and Malakai Naiyaga, and supported by experienced regional partners, leverages deep local knowledge and a proven track record in developing climate-positive businesses. The fund’s “interconnected deal flow” approach builds trust and amplifies impact by strengthening supply chains and fostering collaboration among investees. Active ownership and tailored technical assistance ensure that portfolio companies are equipped to scale, adopt regenerative practices, and deliver measurable social and environmental outcomes.

With a pipeline of investment-ready businesses, MPF1 aims to catalyse systems change by addressing the primary drivers of reef degradation—such as poor waste management and overfishing—while advancing gender equity and expanding access to finance for marginalised groups. The fund aims to demonstrate that Pacific-led, community-rooted solutions can deliver both impact and financial returns and provide global leadership. By investing in MPF1, stakeholders join a movement to transform economic pathways in the Pacific, fostering equitable, regenerative growth for island communities.
