Presentation of the International Climate Finance Accelerator Luxembourg

November 10th, 2017 | 12:00-1:00 PM | Luxembourg – EIB Pavilion

Background

Spurred by the large-scale impact potential of climate finance projects, the interest from public and private investors in climate finance has been growing relentlessly over the last few years. However, in order to successfully deploy funds at scale into climate finance, there is a strong need for professional intermediation in bringing investable projects to the investor community. Designing, setting up and managing a first-time climate finance fund is a complex and time- consuming endeavor, often presenting numerous distinct challenges and requiring an extremely diverse skill set.

In this context, our panelists will discuss the importance of early-stage support required to bridge these gaps, without which many fund projects with high climate related impact potential may never reach see the light of day, or reach the minimum required scale. As one response to these challenges, the initiative of the International Climate Finance Accelerator Luxembourg, designed by Luxembourg climate finance private actors with the support of the Luxembourg Government (Ministry of Finance; MDDI – Department for the Environment), will be presented.
